Pete & I recently spent a fun afternoon taking pictures of young Will & his lovely mother & Grandmother. His mum Lisa was convinced Will must have been our most challenging client to photograph yet, simply because he didn’t stand still very much. He ran, he ran and he ran some more… generally in the...
So sweet LIsa, what an adorable little man. You are super talented and gorgeous.
Olivia
These are beautiful photos. Lisa is so photogenic and Will is just delightful. We have been looking forward to this post – wonderful memories.
Lisa
You have captured his essence in every way – this is the little tiger cub I see running daily. Every facial expression. Every smile. Thankyou for these very precious moments. We feel blessed to have spent that time with you.
Lisa Jay
Ale, Thank you. Coming from a photographer as talented & a lady as gorgeous as you, that is so lovely.
Olivia, Yes Lisa is a ridiculous amount of photogenic! I was worried that it would look like I had edited their faces (when I haven’t) because they just glow. I should have mentioned that the shoot was Lisa’s styling… she brought the apple, the trike, Wills cute clothes.
Lisa, You are so blessed with that little tiger cub!! I wonder how the tourists images of Will turned out 🙂
Dear Anouk, You turned 3 last weekend. It has been 3 years since you were born, on your Grandma’s birthday, making me rush to the hospital before I had served the birthday cake at lunch. You told us this week that your favourite things are; pink, babies, escalators, ice cream, buses and berries (you said this...
Lisa I love love love this post. I love the picture you created of Anouk’s thankfulness for her gifts. It’s exactly what I witnessed from Lucy this week on her birthday. So inspiring. She’s as thankful for a ‘boring’ tshirt as a Tinkerbell doll.
I also love ‘I’m exciting’. Isaac used to say ‘I’m exhausting’. And that he was. 😉 I’m sure you ARE exciting, Anouk. xx
Lisa Jay
Thanks Sarah! You sharing that about Lucy does not surprise me at all. Many of the pictures of your kids opening their b’day & Christmas gifts with such appreciation have stuck in my head. It’s funny.. when Ava wanted to wrap her ‘creation’ for Anouk I was almost tempted to say it would be a waste of wrapping paper to wrap something that wasn’t one of her actual presents (because we still had to wrap my mums b’day presents & two lots of mothers day gifts). Thankfully I realised that to her it was a ‘real’ gift & so I didn’t say it & I helped her wrap it. What a lesson I learned when Anouk opened it & loved it like any other gift.
Oh Lisa – Happy Birthday to your beautiful little girl. She is such a little doll and I just adore these photos of her and her equally gorgeous sister. xxx
Lisa Jay
Thank you Sonia!! xx
Bianca
What lovely sisters they are. Anouk is such a character, whenever I see her she looks so serious but then I see your beautiful photos and it’s clear she is a bit of a comedian!! Beautiful photos of a special day for a special girl. Happy birthday Anouk!
Lisa Jay
Thanks Bianca, Anouk is quiet around groups of people, but a total character with us. Thanks for being part of her day. xx
Here in Australia, we have just finished the school holidays between term 1 & 2. Being Ava’s first year of school, they were our first school holidays ever. I’m so happy that she loves everything about school, but I was also happy to have her around for two weeks. Towards the end of the term I...
Lisa, you are completely and utterly the mum I want to be. The mum I am from time to time, but no where near enough. Thanks for keeping me inspired to do better. I think you are wonderful. x
Lisa Jay
Sarah, You want to be the mother who didn’t get her child through the holiday homework or take her kids to the Easter show??…. hehe.
Thank you for your encouragement friend! You are an absolutely wonderful & inspiring mother! I think with this post I wanted to say that often what we don’t think is enough, really is. Doing more is OK too, but when we don’t do those bigger things, doing less is enough. It takes so much less than we realise for it to be enough. We all have those times where we think we are not the mum ‘we want to be’, but maybe what ‘we want to be’ is not the same as what ‘we need to be’… and maybe what we need to be is simpler than what we imagine. x
This is my favorite post of yours Lisa! You have such a talent for capturing the beauty in the “ordinary.” You make a rainy day look like magical adventure! Happy you guys had some great family time together! Your girls are too cute for words!
Filling up the moments in a day leaves less time for spontenaity, less time to explore, create, and imagine. Thank you for the reminder! And a rain walk sounds like a perfectly fun idea:)
This is one of a few party themes I photographed for party stylist Bobbie from ‘Sweet Celebrations’, in Sydney recently. Bobbie is about to launch her party theme business, which will offer a range of things to buy & hire for themed children’s parties. The ‘sweet celebrations’ website is having the finishing touches added to it...
these are so sweet!

Thank you for your comment Irina! I agree Emilia is a really beautiful girl (she takes after Bobbie). Emilia & her friends were just the sweetest three girls, doing anything to help out with the parties and photo’s on the day. x
The moss bunnies are adorable! Loving the mushroom pops, too.
Bobbie
Wow! I finally got my Internet back & could see the photos properly on my computer. They are amazing Lisa, thank you & Peter & the girls so much! I agree – all of the kids were amazing, they were so natural with the camera. I was a bit worried how they’ll take in all that “modeling”, but they were all so great (maybe except Nicholas, hehe).
[…] of her party themes for me to photograph…the ‘woodland party’ which I shared here on my blog and the ‘tea party’ & ‘pirate party’. I am sharing these ones now […]
Good Friday in Sydney. The skates are hand me downs from my generous friend whose daughter grew out of them before they were even used. Have you ever owned something that you put off using & by the time you decided to use it, it was too late? I think most parents, including myself can relate to being...
Olivia & I met in 1998 when we were both first year dance students at college. I was delighted when Olivia & Michael told us they were expecting their first baby & more so when they asked if we could organise a maternity photo session. Knowing a little bit about them, I knew right away...
I LOVE these! Not a huge fan of maternity shoots normally but this has totally done it for me! The couple looks so relaxed and beautiful:) such lovely photos x
What a gorgeous couple and such an exciting time for them. You have captured their magic as always lovely. Love the red door shots. You may have even inspires me to attack my front door with a bucket of paint. xxx
