“It is in playing, and only in playing, that the individual child or adult is able to be creative and to use the whole personality, and it is only in being creative that the individual discovers the self.” -Fraser Brown
Here in Sydney we’re having a very rainy day for our first day of Summer. I believe rainy days at home can inspire some of the best days with children. Cosy, creative & so much fun.
There are so many reasons I am grateful for these days. I harvest them like the most important fruit of our lives. At the beginning of the season of motherhood it seemed that there would be so many days to fill with my children, but the truth is there will never be enough & although the days...
Oh Lisa,
I loved seeing all the photos of your precious girls and you + Pete creating such an incredible family life together. I just love the way you wrote that – it’s so wonderful to see other families enjoying the journey too. You are a wonderful mama who is investing so much for the long term in your children right now! What an fabulous job you are doing. What a heart to love and serve. Bless you in all you do as a family.
Love Lusi x

Oh thank you so so much Lusi!,
I of course could say all these things back to you!
Your family life is always inspiring & encouraging.

I’ve created a few little ‘book corners’ in places through our home… just little spots where the books are gathered… where little hands have access to stories & pictures, to inspire their imaginations & often their play. Here are just a few we’ve enjoyed this year… SO MANY DAYS Written by Alison McGhee & beautifully...
I think picture books can be an incredibly powerful story telling medium. When you find a book where the words and picture really work together, it’s magic. Pearl Barley and Charlie Parsley is one I adore, and Andrew Daddo’s Check on Me. I”ll have to review them on my blog!
I also enjoyed So Many Days.
Lisa Jay
Thanks Katrina,
We love ‘check on me’ too!!
I’ll have to find the other one you mentioned now too.. any excuse 🙂
Out of town. We set out early. Pete had a work conference while the girls & I spent an entire day at the fair. Delight over Ferris wheels, baby animals & honey lollipops. A long walk back to the hotel past lakes & swans & a park filled with beautiful light. Anouk slept… Ava skipped…...
I do believe that joy is something we can create. Something I’m sure many parents will agree on is that spending days with your children will bring out the creativity in you. You have to be resourceful…. you have to be spontaneous… you have to make your joy. Yesterday it was a beautiful sunny day. I knew it...
