The school pick up could take me about 25 minutes total, but often it takes closer to an hour and 25 minutes. Here are some examples of why from one day this week…. 1. A little person asking to ride her ‘motorbike’ to the school (slowest motorbike ever!) 2. “Mum we should hold hands while I ride...
I just love how they soak up EVERYTHING and make little moments into adventures. How fun that all this can happen on the walk home! The roadside concert pose is too cute.
Michelle
I just love that you allow them the time. I feel I am always rushing my two and I hate it.
Libby
Walking home for your two is such a ‘joyous occasion’ Glad you did’t have a cake in the oven for afternoon tea!
Your girls are just divine and you had me giggling with their antics. I love walks like that, but they always seem to want to do them when you are in a hurry. LOVE the earthquake comment, that is thr type of discussion I have with my middle son all the time.
Thank you – I was feeling pretty shitty today and your blog has put the smile back on my face. xxx

Michelle, we are usually rushing on the way to school, but the way home is a lot more relaxed!
Libby, a cake in the oven would not be a good idea at the pace my two wander home.
Devon, in a way I think it is because they don’t have ‘to-do’ lists running through their minds & responsibilties, that they are able to really just let the walk home be a moment all of it’s own without passing through it in a hurry. There is so much to learn from children.
The lovely Stav Hatchett, owner of the store My Messy Room in Sydney’s Summer Hill is working on a new website and a few other changes for her store. I am working with her on some photographic images for the site. My Messy Room is such a special place. I adore it! It is not just...
I’m blown away by your beautiful post of words and pictures.
Thank you so much for the visual images i can now use on my website and blog. You were so awesome that day, i was full of beans wanting to get a million and one things done and you took it all in your stride. patiently.
I’m so happy too that you understood the love that i feel for creating a community. That has always been my aim, to have a shop where customers can actually stop. stop and talk and look and enjoy the small rituals again.
I LOVE the images so far and cant wait to see more.
For her, the day is filled with opportunities. She doesn’t miss a thing. A puddle to jump in, a bird to chase, a leaf to carry home in her pocket. There’s fun around every corner. An I love you in every hour. Today we raced out the door to school so fast that when we...
cute little feet 🙂
A day in the life of a child is so whimsical and fancy-free and it does take some slowing down sometimes to recognize the sweet little things. I love your writing style 🙂

‘She’ll be off to school one day… and the days like this will be days gone by’…. This is one of the thoughts that has motivated many of my choices in motherhood. The choice to finish work two weeks before her birth & make no hurried plans to return to work away from home. It was the...
Just gorgeous. I love, love, love your work. My little Miss 5 has just started too. As a teacher I thought I had seen it all and it wouldn’t be such a big deal. But when your baby flies the nest it is am epic moment in life…
I wish you were in Brisbane I would get you to take some photos for my website.
Hi, I’m visiting from Circle of Moms. I love your photos, they are beautiful! Kindergarten is such a bittersweet year, I felt so proud that they were growing up into little people, but so sad to say goodbye to my babies.

Hi Lisa
Love this post! I read it a few days ago and have found those words “She’ll be off to school one day… and the days like this will be days gone by…” repeating in my head as I struggle through some pretty hard nights of late and therefore grumpy days. There are joys in EVERY moment and these days of young kids are short. This is a blessing and a curse. Thanks for sharing.
I know I go on and on and on – but I just adore looking at your photos. They tell a story without the need for any words… the words are a bonus. Congrats on this HUGE milestone 🙂 xx

To each & every one of you who left these comments, thank you. I do read all your comments. I love the things you share & I appreciate your kind words very much! Lisa x
Here are my final images for the January ‘photo a day’ project. I know many of you would have seen them posted on my facebook page, but I am posting them here too because I know not all of you who are following are on facebook. Thank you for following along. The final image is...
Australia day this year. We relaxed at home for a while, then head out to Sydney’s Enmore park where my brother Jesse’s band ‘Jesse Morris & the three beans’ were performing as part of the Australia day entertainment…. we bumped into some friends of ours there too, which always makes the day a little more...
My sister was there with Isaac that day! Wonder how close you came to seeing each other… 😉 Isaac had a fantastic time – it’s great to see photos of the atmosphere I heard about but didn’t get to experience myself.

Oh really!? We were there from start to end & ran into a few people we know, so I’m surprised we didn’t see him. We probably walked straight past them. Wish we had seen him! x
ohhh that brings back so many memories myself. What an awesome day. I am loving the new look of your site. I have just been pouring over your gorgeous photos again 🙂 xx
With each age & stage the things they like change so much. She was waiting for us to all be ready to head out the door, so she lined a few of her favourite toys up & played on the front step while she waited. I have lost count of the amount of times I...
